Transhumanism is a movement that holds humanity responsible for the enhancement of the human condition through technology. I see this philosophy as a perfect complement to my faith as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Humanity must learn how to become like God in all aspects, both to emulate His perfect love, justice, and mercy; and to strive to improve our minds and bodies with all the tools that have been given to us.
As gods in embryo, we should strive to become as much as God like we can here on Earth. Technology allows us to expand on the physical limitations of our bodies, the tiniest of baby steps that prepares us for the perfect glorified bodies that we will inherit after resurrection.
My God is a Scientist, whose power and glory comes from His perfect knowledge of all things. I believe that whenever God accomplishes his miracles, he does so by using his perfect knowledge to accomplish his goals. Technology, which is the tool that materializes when both intellect and physical effort are applied, is the power through which both God and His spirit children work.
Man’s technology may be powerful enough to sometimes be indistinguishable from magic, but God’s technology manifests as the fabric of the universe and reality itself. If we wish to become like God someday, we must today and every day push the boundaries of our bodies and our minds.
